We believe we do.
The global challenges that we face today require us to act collectively. None of us can solve these complex problems alone. So each of us must act; we must join together to take decisive and effective action. Be The Change will help you to do exactly that.
What do we know for sure?
We know there are many young people like you who want a bright future for our planet.
We are aware that many of you are already taking action in your local and global community in order to address needs and work towards the Sustainable Development Goals.
Be the Change is an online program in service.
Be The Change supports you to build foundational understandings in this important area, so that you can take informed action for positive community engagement whilst avoiding common roadblocks and errors.
"The voluntary act of addressing community needs and ethically working towards sustainable solutions. A process that involves active consultation and collaboration among stakeholders, leading to reciprocal, respectful, and open-hearted partnerships."
Be The Change will make sure that you have the resources you need at your fingertips to create meaningful change.
The Be The Change program is powered by D2L’s Brightspace learning management system (LMS). Brightspace is a cloud-based learning platform that makes online and blended learning easy, flexible and smart.
The Be The Change program is made up of two parts; a series of 11 lessons and a toolkit.
The 11 x 60-minute lessons will equip you with all you need to know to engage open-heartedly in genuine, best practice service and make a difference in your community.
The toolkit is separated into the five stages of service: Investigation, Preparation, Action, Demonstration and Reflection. Each stage contains a series of guides and templates that you can use immediately for real action.
“Be The Change taught me that everyone has their own path to becoming a better person and helping others.”
“I enjoyed deepening my knowledge about how service can benefit our community.”
I enjoyed...“The real world links and how much of what we were learning was related not only to service but to general life skills and knowledge that can help you in daily life. For example, mindfulness is important in many different aspects of life.”
I enjoyed it “When I learnt about systems thinking as a way of affecting change, and looking for context to visualise and build the system. It's a very logical and efficient way to go about solving a problem within a community.”
I learnt...“That service is fun and enjoyable, but also a hard-working process to achieving and making a change in this so quickly changing world. I also learnt about new skills and how to improve those, especially what impact they have when they are developed.”
“The thing that I enjoyed the most about the BTC course was how concise the information was. This helped me comprehend information faster due to the key points in every paragraph.”
